United Church of Christ; currently serving as pastor of Grace UCC in Uniontown, Ohio. In January 2005, shortly after I began my first settled call, I began the blog that you're reading.
I was born in Michigan, just outside Detroit. I grew up as a PK ("pastor's kid" for the uninitiated), and that familial lifestyle eventually landed us in northeast Ohio, which I have called home for nearly 30 years. However, as you'll occasionally see on the blog, I've remained loyal to Detroit and University of Michigan sports teams.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Heidelberg University (it was College when I graduated) and a Masters of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary. I am also certified as a spiritual director through the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University.
I'm a pop culture nut. I play guitar, bass, and drums and love a wide variety of musical styles. I almost always have a book or two laying around that I'm reading, and I especially love theology and spirituality, history, memoir, and a good novel.
I've been married over a decade (to "Coffeewife") and have two children ("Coffeeson" and "Coffeedaughter").
I love coffee. I drink a lot of it.
