About Me

Hi.  I'm Jeff, aka the Coffeepastor.  I'm an ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ.  Shortly after I began my first settled call, I began the blog that you're reading.

I was born in Michigan, just outside Detroit.  I grew up as a PK ("pastor's kid" for the uninitiated), and that familial lifestyle eventually landed us in northeast Ohio, which I have called home for over 20 years.  However, as you'll occasionally see on the blog, I remain loyal to sports teams that hail from Detroit and Ann Arbor.  Deal with it.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Heidelberg University (it was College when I graduated) and a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary.  I still greatly treasure each of these institutions for their contributions to my formation, and visit them when the opportunity arises.  I'm currently working my way through a program at the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University to be certified as a spiritual director, which I'll complete in the spring of 2014.

I'm a pop culture nut.  I love music, movies, books, and the internets.  I play guitar, bass, and drums and love a wide variety of musical styles.  I almost always have a book or two laying around that I'm reading, and I especially love theology and spirituality, history, memoir, and a good novel.

I've been married over a decade (to "Coffeewife") and have a son ("Coffeeson"). A second child will join us in September. I love the incredible journey that we've been on together as a family.

I love coffee.  I drink a lot of it.
